Protecting Your Assets And Your Family After You Are Gone

Making a Will isn’t something you should put off until later in life – having a Will in place and putting a plan in place, makes it easier for your family once you are gone. Perhaps you feel it is a little morbid to think about making your Will, however, it is very important and our experienced solicitors will guide you through the process and make it as straightforward as possible.

People often assume that their husband or wife or civil partner will automatically inherit all of their estate, but this is not the case. If you die without a Will, complex legal rules apply, and your spouse or civil partner may not inherit all of your estate. Therefore, it is important to protect your loved ones by putting a Will in place so that they are looked after once you are gone.

Wills and trusts can save you money too; forward planning should save Inheritance Tax payable on your death. Our expert solicitors can provide guidance on Inheritance Tax planning and trusts and can also act as professional Trustees. Our expert solicitors can liaise with your accountant and financial advisor so that you get the most tax efficient approach with your wealth planning and all professional advisors are aware of the plan.

Our Solicitors are also experienced in providing advice to elderly clients and can give guidance on Enduring Powers of Attorney, Controllership Orders, Residential Care Home fee planning, Living Wills or Advanced Directives.

Once someone has passed away, their financial estate may need to be dealt with and our knowledgeable solicitors can assist with obtaining Probate of the Will (or Administration, if there is no Will), payment of Inheritance Tax and completion of the appropriate accounts to HMRC, distribution of assets and advise on any Trusts contained in the Will.
