    Qualified in 1982
    Brian is managing partner of the firm and undertakes work relating to housing developments, site acquisition, site development, planning issues, joint ventures, licences, corporate sales and acquisitions, commercial litigation and reputation management. He has a particular experience in acting for consortia of landowners in concluding planning agreements.
    Brian is regarded as one of the most experienced solicitor mediators in Northern Ireland and has pioneered the use of mediation for the resolution of commercial disputes and has lectured extensively in mediation both locally and internationally.
    Brian is presently a member (and former Chair) of the Education Committee of the Law Society of Northern Ireland and has undertaken an extensive review of solicitors' vocational training in Northern Ireland. Brian is also a member of the Council of the Law Society of Northern Ireland and former President of the Law Society of Northern Ireland for 2010 -2011.

    Jonathan joined CMG in September 2001 and became a partner in the firm the following year. He specialises in all property matters including development, commercial property and Landlord and Tenant and also has a large corporate and commercial practice.
    Jonathan also acts for bookmakers and has a wide experience of media law.

  • Audrey Atcheson

    Audrey E Atcheson LL.B

    Qualified in 1984
    Audrey has acted on behalf of clients in high profile and high value matrimonial matters. She has extensive knowledge and experience in advising on pensions and inherited property matters and advising in Children’s law both in relation to public and private law. She also has experience in relation to foreign adoptions.
    Audrey also specialises in the personal injury field including high value road traffic accident claims and clinical negligence actions as well as industrial injury claims in both the High Court County Court.
    She also has extensive experience of acting on behalf of landlords in landlord/tenant matters having acted for many years on behalf of a major housing organisation.
    Audrey has also gained knowledge of and expertise in employment law and also the workings of Industrial Tribunals ranging from giving critical advice on disciplinary and redundancy matters and advising on contracts of employment to preparing for and attending at tribunals. She has also experience of arbitration in association with the LRA arbitration scheme.
    Most recently she has been engaged in cases of high value in the Commercial Court and also involved in both bringing and defending actions brought against the estates of deceased persons in the Chancery Court.

    Julie Ann Osborne

    Joined CMG Cunningham Dickey as a Partner having worked in two respected rural practices for the previous 15 years. She specialises in all property matters including residential and commercial conveyancing, farms and land transfers, development land purchase and site sales and acts for a number of residential developers.
    Julie Ann is a Trust and Estate Practitioner having completed her STEP Diploma and gained Excellence Awards and the highest marks in her year group. She deals with Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorneys, Trusts, Probate, Inheritance Tax Planning and Controllership Orders. Julie Ann also sits on the STEP NI committee and is a member of the Elder Law Group.
    Julie Ann also deals with Partnership Disputes, especially farming partnerships, and as a farmer’s daughter has an understanding of life on the farm! She is also a member of the Agricultural Law Association and has recently taken part in a series of talks in conjunction with Rural Support, providing information to farming families on succession planning.

  • Mark McAdam

    Mark McAdam LL.B

    Mark McAdam graduated from The Queen's University of Belfast in 2000 and commenced his apprenticeship with Cunningham & Dickey. He qualified as a Solicitor in 2002 and continues to work with us. His main areas of work are Conveyancing, both domestic and commercial property, Matrimonial, Probate, Family and Children's Law, Litigation, Wills and Probate. Outside of work Mark enjoys playing rugby to a very low level for his club.

    Mark is Married and has one daughter and one son.

  • Hugh Logan

    Hugh Logan LL.B

    Hugh Logan has been a member of the firm since 1970. He became a Partner in 1977 and remains in that capacity.

    He was educated at Belfast High School from 1956 to 1963 when he entered Queen’s University Belfast and obtained an LLB Honours Degree in 1967. He qualified as a Solicitor in 1970.

    His main areas of work are Conveyancing, both domestic and commercial, matrimonial, probate, liquor licensing and Chancery High Court litigation. Of recent years, he has become involved in Sports Law, mainly due to the fact that he is a Judicial Officer dealing with matters of discipline in rugby football both on and off the field, acting on behalf of the Irish Rugby Football Union, International Rugby Board, European Rugby Cup and Six Nations. As a result of this involvement, he attends annual courses relating to discipline and sports law and this has included representing the Irish Football Association at a 2 day legal conference on legal issues involving soccer held by UEFA.

    Outside the context of his legal practice, Hugh has always been involved in the sport of rugby football and is a past President of the Ulster Branch of the IRFU and of Malone RFC. He is also a past President of the Ulster Reform Club, which has been in existence since 1885. He is also a member of an IFA Licensing Committee that deals with the licensing of soccer clubs to play European football and he is a member of the limited company that runs and governs his old School.

  • David Marshall

    David Marshall B.A
    David Marshall has over 25 years' experience in handling public liability defence claims for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and has acted for the Commercial Property Department of that body for over 15 years.
    In the wider commercial field David acts for a local fuel company which conducts operations throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe. He also acts for a major building group in this country. He has dealt with multi-million pound litigation for a Spanish bank. He has extensive knowledge of all facets of debt recovery litigation and handles miscellaneous construction, transportation and general commercial litigation for a number of local companies as well as acting as agent in Northern Ireland for many English legal firms.

  • Keith Cowan

    Keith C E Cowan M.A (Cantab)

    Qualified in 1983
    Keith qualified as a solicitor in1983. Having spent 16 years with Tughans solicitors he joined CMG in 1999. Throughout his career to date Keith has specialised in advising clients on all aspects of Insolvency Law and Commercial Litigation, including in particular Building Contract Law in which he acted as Advisor to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive for 20 years, for the Department of the Environment and a large number of private Companies and Individuals with building related claims. He has considerable experience of the High Court and in particular of the Commercial Branch of the High Court, of Arbitrations both in Northern Ireland and the Mainland and abroad and mediation. Keith’s present workload comprises a balance between Insolvency work and Commercial Litigation.

With her friendly and cheerful nature Emma has built up an excellent set of legal skills in a short space of time in property law. Emma regularly advises on all aspects of residential and commercial conveyancing. Assisting senior partner Brian Speers in acting for a number of well-known property developers, Emma has gained experience in assisting in the development of land including new build housing schemes and commercial leases issues.
